Glide-on is a Colorado-based business founded in 2006 by Lin Alicia Martin. In 2005, while working as a polymer chemist, Lin was shown a unique formula for ski wax that included the polymer she had been producing and testing. Not a skier herself, she asked friends and co-workers to try the wax. They reported that it was superior to other hydrocarbon waxes on the market. It is the polymer that makes the difference. The polymer acts as a plasticizer, giving Glide-on more elasticity, durability, and speed, without adding toxic chemicals. Through years of testing, and listening to feedback from skiers, snowboarders, and skiboarders, Lin has perfected her formulas to the high quality they are today.
